I found it very odd that as I am reading these comments I find that my younger sister had left a comment over four years ago. We stayed here for four nights in 2003 I believe. It was strange because we got the last room in the entire hotel. There were ladybugs in our windows. They never once bothered us though. Our first night there, my mother got out of bed and went over to the dresser. She pulled out the top drawer and started shaking it as if trying to remove it from the dresser. We yelled at her to get back in bed so she put the drawer on the ground and got back in bed. We asked her the next morning what she was doing and she couldn't recall anything we were telling her. My dad made the comment that none of us had put anything in the drawers. I went over to the drawer and looked inside and the only thing in there was a Bible. Creepy...?? We think so. We loved our stay here so much that I am leaving in two days to come back and stay a few nights at The Basin and a few nights at The Crescent!!
Great hotel, great service, and great stories!!

We stayed February 13th for the night, we always go to Eureka Springs when we want to get away. When we got to the Hotel our room number was 317, very Beautiful suite. Everyone that worked there was very helpful... and very kind and the best part about it, was almost everything was within walking distance. If you have never stayed at the Basin Park, give it a try, you will not be disappointed.

I loved my stay at this magnificent hotel. However, I learned the hard way that the Crescent isn't the only haunted hotel in Eureka Springs. During the night I had a very uneasy, restless sleep. At one point I had a very troubling, vivid dream (vision?) of a forlorn man sitting on a chair, covered with blood. This is not the kind of thing I generally have vivid dreams about. It was only after this occurred that during a chat with a staff member I learned that a man had shot himself on the floor of the hotel on which we were staying over gambling debts. I knew immediately that this was who I had seen that night. We had also experienced strange odors in the hallways, whispering noises in the stairwell and in our room, and a general sense of uneasiness as though someone else was present or watching. We also heard the story of the woman ghost on the top floor in the bar area whom we did not have the priviledge of meeting during this stay. Maybe next time.

The Balcony Restaurant has the BEST bean soup in the world - including the U.S. Senate. Hope it is still being prepared there the next time we visit. Unfortunately, we are too late this year for Valentine's Day weekend, unless there is a cancellation - hope, hope, hope!

We have been coming to Eureka springs for the past 9 years and we just love it there. We also love seeing the web cam. What is going on with it? Sometimes it does not refresh for days. We will be coming there in October and would like to have our friends see us.

At 5:00am, my husband was awakened by a figure in our room. It was a younger woman, teenage years, with blondish brown or reddish brown hair and a pale complexion. He was laying on the right side of our bed, the side closest to the doorway to the bath area. It appeared that she opened and came through a door (even though there is no door there currently) leading from the bath to the bedroom. She walked over to the bed and grabbed the bedcovers and started to lift them up as if to wake us up and get us out of bed. My husband started saying "No, no, no" and reached out to pull the covers back down. At that point, he said that suddenly his arms were folded on top of his chest and he could not move one ounce. He was trying with much effort to reach over and wake me up but was not able to move. Then he tried to call out to me, but was not able to speak. He was in this state for an unknown amount of time. He said it ! felt like a few minutes, but could have been seconds. Then the paralyzation went away and he immediately moved close to me and put his hand on me so that he might be able to wake me if it happened again.
He said that he really wanted to get out of bed at that point, but for about 20 minutes, the room had a certain "energy" to it as if something was still in the room. He stayed awake through this and at 5:20, the air in the room was suddenly back to normal and he then got out of bed.
He said that through this whole experience, he never felt afraid. He didn't feel like anyone was there to harm us.
And how do I fit in? I slept through the whole blasted thing!! I was very upset to learn that I missed out!

We went on the "Outdoor Adventure" and what an experience!! The scenery was awsome. We saw about 40 elk grazing in a field and among them were babies and a huge bull with the biggest rack I've ever seen!! We visited historic land marks that dated back prior to the civil war. We visited one of the old indian caves and, there aren't words to describe what we saw! We saw so many different waterfalls in the neatest places. We walked along the Buffalo River, and then went to one of the highest points in NW Arkansas. WHAT A VIEW!!! On our way back, we saw several bald eagles with their young. They seemed so close, we could almost touch them. This was an experience that our family will always treasure and talk about for years to come!!
